The book has been designed to achieve a specific objective for certain group of readers, such as B.Com, M.Com, M.B.A, M.C.A and P.G.D.B.M students. It has been divided into two parts - first part explaining accounting subject upto the stage of preparation of financial statements and the second part dealing with foundation for management accounting. The scope of this book is very broad and is both comprehensive and dynamic in nature. In the present edition of the book, topics like operations research and management accounting, human resource accounting, accounting for changing price level and management accounting in non-profit organisations have been updated. These topics are usually not available in other books on the subject as there is no agreement among writers as to which topics should be included in a book on management accounting. The scope of management accounting is so wide that various attempts to define this discipline has ended in emphasising some of its facets only to the exclusion of others. Throughout the book, there is a logical flow of ideas presented in an easy to read style. A special feature of the book is the copious use of real examples to illustrate management account practice.
